Senator Wilk Appointed to Senate Budget Committee

Senator Scott Wilk, R-Antelope Valley, announced today his appointment to the Senate Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review.

“With Governor Brown issuing one of the largest budget proposals in our state’s history there has perhaps never been a more important time for the Legislature to do its part in ensuring the wise and prudent administration of the peoples’ money,” stated Wilk. “The current budget proposal is a strike against fiscal responsibility, despite the governor’s urging to the contrary. Addressing the needs of transportation, water storage and education must remain priorities. Having a seat at the table as a member of the Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review is an opportunity I will take full advantage of and will fight to rein in spending and ensure California’s economic livelihood for the 2017-18 fiscal year and beyond.”

Wilk has been appointed to the Subcommittee No. 4, a specialized group set up to handle issues of state administration and general government. Subcommittee No. 4 will also be responsible for overseeing the administration and allocation of funds toward programs and agencies relating to veterans affairs and the aerospace sector. Last year, Wilk sat on the Assembly’s version of Budget Subcommittee No. 4 where he successfully added a provision to the budget preserving $25 million in tax credits for the Advanced Strategic Long Range Bomber project. The aerospace industry greatly affects the 21st Senate District – one that provides mortgage paying jobs to thousands throughout the region.

“Our communities thrive on their connection to aerospace and the strong veteran communities that live in them. I am pleased to have this opportunity to impact our community and to play a role in ensuring the continued success of the aerospace industry and the wellbeing of our veterans.”
