Wilk calls for Independent Review of State's PPE Contracts

Sacramento, Today Senator Scott Wilk, representing California’s 21st Senate District, announces he and a group of other lawmakers have requested the Joint Legislative Audit Committee perform a thorough audit of the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services’ contract for the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Senator Wilk issued the following statement on the need for an audit:

“The critical needs facing California to stop the spread of the pandemic do not remove government’s obligation to be transparent with the spending of taxpayer dollars. Just last week the details of these multi-million dollar contracts were released and there are legitimate questions. A thorough audit will shed light on the decision making process and provide much needed transparency.

“As California moves forward in addressing this pandemic, the government has a responsibility to adhere to the statutes in place to ensure there is no waste of taxpayer dollars.”
