Senator Wilk honors Iris Gutierrez, owner of FUERZA Marketing and Advertising as the Small Business of the Month

SACRAMENTO – Senator Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, joined community members, local businesses, customers, family and friends to honor Iris Gutierrez, owner of FUERZA Marketing & Advertising. Wilk named FUERZA as his December choice for the 21st Senate District Small Business of the Month.

“FUERZA Marketing & Advertising has made the High Desert community proud with its consistent service and dedication,” stated Senator Wilk. “Iris has used her resources to do tremendous things for the Hispanic community, local youth, and countless small businesses. I am honored to give her this award for her tireless commitment to the High Desert’s communities.”

Iris Gutierrez is the founder and owner of FUERZA Marketing & Advertising. She has used her business to continue her longstanding dedication to the Hispanic community of the High Desert. She has contracted with many high-profile organizations such as the Hesperia Rec and Park District. When Iris first opened FUERZA one of her first ‘cross-over campaigns’ was to connect Recs and Parks District to the Mexican Rodeo industry in order to promote ticket sales to the Hesperia Rodeo.

Gutierrez has been a member of the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce since 1992, when she represented her parents’ small business. She now serves on the Chamber’s Board of Directors. She is actively involved in the community, promoting, mentoring and sponsoring drug awareness programs for local girls. Iris is also Managing Editor of Desert Life Magazine, a local bilingual publication, "Bringing Community & Culture Together" where she prides herself in engaging with the community and sharing similarities, rather than the differences.

“I am humbled to be recognized by Senator Wilk,” said Gutierrez. “Serving my community is an investment in the future for the region. The High Desert’s small business community understands its role in our culture and economy. Supporting our community is giving back to the people that support us every day. It is an honor to be receiving this award. Thank you.”

Iris currently lives with her husband of 29 years. They have five children and are the guardians of their ten-year-old nephew.
