SANTA CLARITA –Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, recently honored Le Chкne French Cuisine as the 38th Assembly District Small Business of the Month for the month of May.
“Le Chкne is an iconic institution whose roots extend deeply into our community,” said Wilk. “They routinely give back through local nonprofits like the Celebrity Waiter Dinner and Sierra Pelona Wine Festival, which donates its proceeds to the SCV Senior Center. Le Chкne clearly fits the bill to be honored as 'Small Business of the Month.'”
Le Chкne French Cuisine has been serving fine food and wine for over 30 years and is located on Sierra Highway, near Agua Dulce. “Le Chкne” meaning “The Oak” is fitting considering the beautiful, long-standing oak trees around the restaurant, as well as the rich history of the area. The recognizable stone, castle-esque building that houses Le Chкne has seen many celebrities over the years, and was even a large part of the set in Steven Spielberg's 1971 movie Duel.
Small businessman Juan Alonso has owned and operated Le Chкne French Cuisine since 1980.
The Small Business of the Month program is designed to highlight and honor small businesses in the community that hire locally, give back to local non-profits, and promote growth and investment in the community.
