Lancaster - Today Senator Scott Wilk, representing the 21st Senate District, honored Rio Brazilian Grill as his Small Business of the Month. Owner Andres Kabrera received the award among a crowd of customers, local business owners and elected officials.
“Rio Brazilian Grill is more than a great place to eat. Andres and his team work hard to be thoughtful community partners in the Antelope Valley,” said Wilk. “Whether it be through time or donation, Rio Brazilian is there for our community.”
Rio Brazilian Grill opened its doors in 2014. Using locally sourced food and a high standard or service, it has become one of the valley’s more popular eateries. What distinguishes the Grill however, is its commitment to the community.
Andres is an active member of the Antelope Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Formerly he served as the Vice President and is now a Director for the Chamber. He also sits on the board of The Valley Oasis, an organization dedicated to helping our most vulnerable citizens - victims of domestic violence, the homeless and many others.
“This is an honor. My family set an example of the importance of drive, passion and loving what you do,” said Andres. “I was taught it is very important to give in whatever way you can. That everyone is capable of making a difference big or small. Receiving this award today is truly an honor. Thank you.”
There are 3.7 million small businesses in California and the growth of Latino owned businesses have outpaced the growth of all other businesses in California’s small business community.
