Wilk's Women Safety & Self-Defense Workshop a Success

SANTA CLARITA – Last night, Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, partnered with Los Angeles County Sheriff Deputy Brian Heischuber, the Domestic Violence Center of Santa Clarita, and the UFC Gym of Santa Clarita to host a free Women’s Safety and Self-Defense Workshop.

“Abuse and domestic violence is a big problem in our society and something I am dedicated to making a difference as I have a daughter and wife,” said Wilk. “The goal of the workshop was to empower women and make them victors, not victims. We had a tremendous turnout and the UFC Gym staff did an incredible job teaching valuable skills for real life situations. With the high volume of participants, I plan to host another workshop in the near future.”

Over one hundred and thirty people attended the workshop in order to cultivate an empowering mentality by creating a set of awareness, safety and physical strategies that would enable someone to successfully resist, escape and survive violent attacks.
