Wilk Calls for Governor to Declare State of Emergency in Porter Ranch Gas Leak

SACRAMENTO –Today, Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, submitted a letter to the governor urging him to declare a State of Emergency in response to the Aliso Canyon gas leak.

On October 23, 2015, the Southern California Gas Company discovered a gas leak at their Aliso Canyon facility affecting the Porter Ranch community.

In his letter to the governor, Wilk stated that “every day that passes without a remedy to the leak causes greater concern from the residents affected by this disaster.”

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is anticipated to declare the Aliso Canyon gas leak a State of Emergency at their Board meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, December 15th.

“I urge Governor Brown to follow the expected local declaration with a declaration of his own, so that everything possible can be done to ensure the safety of the community,” said Wilk.
