SACRAMENTO – Senate Republican Leader Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) representing the 21st Senate District, honored Pamela Vose, the Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Antelope Valley Association of REALTORS (GAVAR), as his Woman of the Year. The California State Senate recognized the honorees during a Senate floor session Monday afternoon and held a virtual ceremony that evening to honor each member’s choice for the award.
“Pamela is very deserving of this recognition and I am glad to have the opportunity to present her as the 21st Senate District’s ‘Woman of the Year.’ Pamela was the obvious choice for women of the year, as few in the state work harder for their community. Her work with the Tender Loving Care (TLC) program, the ‘Be a Santa to a Senior’ program, and the ‘Homes 4 Families’ project, in particular, stand out as essential contributions to the Antelope Valley, providing much-needed care to those too-often overlooked. During these trying times brought on by the pandemic, the type of work Pamela has accomplished undoubtedly help those who are in need,” said Wilk.
“Thank you to Senator Wilk for this amazing award as he recognizes the importance that non-profits have played during the COVID shutdown. Non-profits have stepped up to provide much-needed services to the community as the state’s ever-changing rules have impacted all of our lives. I truly appreciate Senator Wilk’s dedication to our district as he has made such a strong difference in the lives of so many families, businesses, and students and I humbly accept this award,” said Vose.
Pamela Vose is well accomplished, both personally and professionally. Her many accolades include:
- Starting the TLC (Tender Loving Care) program which, to date, has given over 130,000 stuffed animals to traumatized and abused children as well as elderly patients who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. The program received national recognition from the National Assn. of REALTORS and has since been adopted by several other REALTOR associations nationwide.
- Becoming the first organization to participate in the Be a Santa to a Senior program in the Antelope Valley which later became the Be an Elf to the Elderly – programs which have provided gifts from GAVAR members to over 2500 deserving senior citizens and veterans.
- Actively being involved with the Homes 4 Families project in Palmdale
- Working as a proud member of the Barnyard Belles
- Being a past director for the Antelope Valley Board of Trade
- Serving on the Downtown Revitalization Project of Downtown Lancaster Boulevard -The BLVD
She was also instrumental in the successful merger of the Palmdale Association of REALTORS and the Antelope Valley Board of REALTORS (the first of two competing organizations to merge in the Antelope Valley).
Vose began her career with organized real estate in 1987 as a part-time membership administrator for the Palmdale Board of REALTORS. As the membership grew, so did her duties and promotions. She became the CEO of the Palmdale Association of REALTORS in 1996 and later became the CEO of the Greater Antelope Valley Association of REALTORS in 1999. (GAVAR is the largest trade association in the Valley currently serving its 2500+ members.)
She earned her certificate in non-profit management from Duke University and holds the designation of RCE (REALTOR Association Certified Executive).
Vose has been married to her husband, Jim, for 15 years and their blended family includes one daughter and four sons.
“Pamela is a shining example of civic engagement within her community. We can all learn from her work ethic, her commitment to her family and community, and her desire to protect those on the periphery of society,” said Wilk. “People like Pamela make the 21st District a great place to call home, and if more worked with the compassion that she daily displays, the state of California would be a much better place.”
