Wilk Introduces Bill to Honor Fallen Simi Valley Police Officer Michael Clark

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblyman Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, introduced Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR) 134 to honor fallen Simi Valley Police Officer Michael Clark.

ACR 134 would designate the First Street Overcrossing at the 118 freeway in Simi Valley as the Simi Valley Police Officer Michael Clark Memorial Overcrossing.

On August 4, 1995 Officer Clark was killed in the line of duty while handling a “check the welfare” call at the request of the Ventura County Mental Health Department at a residence in Simi Valley where he was shot and killed by the person he was trying to assist. Officer Clark left behind his wife, Jenifer, and his son Bayley who was only five months old at the time. Officer Clark is the only Simi Valley Police Officer to have died in the line of duty.

“Officer Clark always put others first and was a devoted husband and father who deserves to be remembered for his brave actions as well as his service to California as a public safety officer,” Wilk said. “I am honored to assist in memorializing Officer Clark's legacy in our community.”

Senator Fran Pavley, D-Agoura Hills, is a principal co-author of this measure.
