Wilk Issues Statement on California Film Tax Credit Deal

SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, issued the following statement on the agreement between the Governor and Legislative Leaders on the Film Tax Credit Legislation, Assembly Bill 1839:

“This is a tremendous victory for California and I want to thank, and congratulate, the thousands of people in the film and production industry who made their voices heard here in the Capitol on the Film Tax Credit. Actors, Directors, Writers, production staff, and dozens of small businesses who depend on the industry all joined together to make sure Sacramento 'gets it' when it comes to preserving this industry.”

“Retaining and growing the film industry is more than an economic issue, it's a quality of life issue. Too many families are separated by runaway film production. With this bill, help is on the way.”

Today's deal included increasing the tax credit to $330 million a year for five years beginning with fiscal year 2015-16 and replaces the current lottery system with a more competitive and accountable system.

The 38th Assembly District encompasses Simi Valley, the northwestern section of the San Fernando Valley and most of the Santa Clarita Valley.
