Wilk recognized for pro-democracy voting record

Awarded the Common Cause “We the People Award”

SACRAMENTO – Today Senator Scott Wilk, R-Antelope Valley, was awarded the “We the People Award” by Common Cause for his for his commitment to an inclusive democracy.  The award is given to those legislators who were leaders in strengthening California’s democracy in the 2015-16 session.

“This award is a true honor. My purpose in office is to enhance the quality of life of ordinary Californians,” said Wilk. “My priorities are to make government more effective, efficient and accountable.  Making government and campaigns more transparent empowers voters and citizens – which leads to better public policy.”

The award was given to Wilk by California Common Cause Board President, Jonathan Stein. Stein expressed particular appreciation for the Senator’s strong voting record on their priority legislation, including:

  • SB 254 (Citizens United referendum),
  • SB 1108 (local redistricting commissions),
  • SB 1288 (local majority voting options),
  • SB 1349 (Cal-Access modernization),
  • AB 700 (Disclose Act), and

AB 2523 (default local contribution limits).
