SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, submitted a letter to the Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) requesting they renegotiate the time residents have to transition back into their homes once they gas leak at the Aliso Canyon facility is capped.
“When the stipulated agreement between SoCal Gas and the city of Los Angeles was reached no one understood the magnitude of the leak and the disruption it would cause Porter Ranch residents,” stated Wilk. “Many of my constituents' families have moved their children into different schools to be in close proximity to their temporary residence. It is imperative we remain cognizant of the many different cases caused by this catastrophe and to ask my constituents to relocate in a 48-hour window is not sufficient.”
In December, a stipulated agreement was made between the gas company and the Los Angeles city attorney's office at the direction of the Los Angeles Superior Court. In that agreement, the residents who chose relocation would have 48-hours to move back to their homes once the leak was capped.
