SACRAMENTO – Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, responded to the selection of Assemblymember Anthony Rendon, D-Paramount, as Speaker of the Assembly: The Speaker-Elect will assume the position in March.
“I want to congratulate my colleague, Anthony Rendon, on being elected the 70th Speaker of the California State Assembly by acclamation. A number of the nominating speeches lauded Mr. Rendon's life-long pursuit of justice. It's the duty of the legislature to pass just laws, but, I believe, it's also our duty to pass them in a just manner. I look forward to working with Mr. Rendon and I'm hopeful both parties work in a bipartisan manner so every Californian is represented fairly in the state capitol.
