Wilk strongly urges wildfire preparedness as Post Fire and multiple fires burn across Senate District 21

Sen. Scott Wilk (R-Santa Clarita) is strongly encouraging residents to prepare their households and families for wildfires, as numerous fires burned across Senate District 21 over the weekend.

“This is a wake-up call that wildfire season is here. Fires are a fact of life in California and can spread quickly, devastating wildlife, natural areas, and neighborhoods. It’s critical to have a plan in place today to keep you and your family safe,” said Senator Wilk. “Thank you to our brave firefighters, who have been working tirelessly around the clock to protect our communities. In regards to the Post Fire, my office continues to monitor the situation and will share the latest information as it becomes available.”

In addition to the Post Fire, high winds and dry conditions fueled fires in Agua Dulce, Lancaster, and Hesperia. The best way to survive in case of a wildfire is to be prepared before it strikes.

  • Get Ready: Create and maintain defensible space, and harden your home against embers.
  • Get Set: Prepare your family and home in case there is a need to evacuate. Make sure you have a plan for what to take with you and where to go.
  • Be Ready to GO: When a wildfire strikes, leave immediately to ensure your safety.
