SACRAMENTO –Assembly Bill 1622 that would provide funding for housing and treatment centers for our veteran population who struggle with homelessness, addiction or mental illness passed off the Assembly floor. Assemblyman Scott Wilk, R-Santa Clarita, is a coauthor of AB 1622.
“This bill will provide veterans with critical funding designed for those who are homeless or mentally ill,” said Wilk. “Addressing the lack of resources for our homeless youth and veterans is an urgent matter and I am pleased to see a vulnerable population receive the services they deserve. Our veterans made grave sacrifices for our freedoms and it is our obligation to do all that we can to support them.”
AB 1622 would provide $20 million dollars for traditional housing, shelters and treatment centers for homeless veterans and increase services to aide our homeless youth.
This bill will now go to the governor's desk.
